#selfcaresundays – working out and winding down

On March 1, 2016, I braved the scale. I weighed myself for the first time after giving birth. On March 1, I weighed 144lbs or approximately 65kg. I never use to weigh myself but this time I did because I needed to have a goal for me to work towards. That and I have a wedding reception to go to in a months time. 

So, here are my goals (keep in mind I’m 5’2 or 158cm tall):

Dream weight: 110lbs (50kg)

Realistic weight goal (by end of year): 120-125lbs (55-57kg)

Short term weight goal (by April): 130-135lbs (59-61kg)

Now that it’s in writing, it seems more real but I just want to say that I’m not working out necessarily just to lose weight. Working out for me has always really been about my mental health and lately, because I don’t go out much, I have needed this.

So, what have I been doing? Well, I started doing some workouts that can be found on YouTube. I’m focusing on cardio right now as I am super unfit. I’ve been doing them at night as I feel like I have more time at night after baby is in his crib sleeping. 

However, usually working out gives me a burst of energy so I’ve been winding down by using an oil cleanser on my face so that I can do a facial massage. Some nights I will use a mask as well.

This is what self-care is all about. Doing little things for yourself to make you feel good from the inside and out.

So far my workout, wind down routine has been going well. I haven’t weighed myself again yet but again, weight is not the most important part of working out for me. For me, it’s about my mental and physical health.
